This mug is just the right size for a coffee. A tulip “V” shape and made with a desire for these objects to have character and personality - which I think comes from the throwing rings, organic curved wall and jaunty handle. The lip subtly flares, sitting comfortably in the lips when drinking from. They’re mugs with character, but are also a pleasure to drink from.
Inspired by my trip to Japan earlier this year.
With a simple clear glaze, the off-white stoneware hue of the clay underneath shows through. A chain of expressive dots ring around the outside in a juicy deep cobalt blue. Or a cobalt daisy chain as I like to think of it.
Wheel thrown using white stoneware clay. Glazed in an oxidation kiln.
